Features, fixes, and improvements across iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch.
Notes updated:Version: 1.2
Athos 1.2
Tidy your library, add scanned books faster, and see iCloud sync at a glance.
Version 1.2 makes it easier to organise your catalogue, review metadata, and discover what to read next. It brings category and publisher tidy-up tools, faster scanned-batch saving, clearer sync status, and refinements across iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch.
Curated Categories
File new books using your own categories. Turn on Curated Categories to use the categories already on your shelf. On supported devices and languages, Apple Intelligence can help when enabled.
Tidy overlapping categories. Tidy Up combines overlapping category names. Review the result and undo a tidy-up with one tap.
Keep collections connected. Smart collections stay up to date when their categories are renamed or merged.
Understand the match. See why a category was chosen and find books still waiting to be filed.
Publisher Tidy-Up
Bring publisher names together. Consolidate variants such as “Penguin” and “Penguin Books”, and connect imprints with the right publishing house.
Review explained recommendations. A built-in directory of 209 publisher entries supports matching and explains each recommendation.
Metadata Review
Focus on the decision. Review outstanding book metadata across four focused areas, grouped by the decision each book needs.
Keep the queue useful. Settled books leave the queue so attention stays on unfinished work.
Undo a review session. Restore points let you reverse a review session.
Scanning and batch adds
Save batches faster. Add All saves ready scanned books together with less waiting.
Keep scanning during lookups. Lookups run while you continue capturing ISBNs. Covers appear as matches arrive, and failed searches retry automatically.
Find more editions. Improved catalogue lookup helps find recent releases and regional editions.
Clean up imported titles. Catalogue titles are cleaned more consistently across languages. Normalise Metadata also tidies titles already saved in your library.
Author, publisher, and series discovery
Find what comes next. Live catalogue lookups surface author and publisher releases and reveal missing volumes in a series.
Avoid repeat editions. Edition-aware matching helps keep other editions of books you already own out of suggestions.
Explore author profiles. Selected well-known authors gain richer profiles to support discovery.
iCloud sync
See sync in plain language. The sync status screen explains current activity, pending changes, and issues that need attention.
Recover oversized uploads. Athos can compact oversized author photos and publisher logos before retrying an upload that is too large.
Review conflicting changes. Compare conflicting field values and choose which to keep. Recovery refinements help prevent stale conflict history returning after library data is cleared.
Design and platform refinements
Colour from the cover. Book, author, series, publisher, and category pages take their accent colour from book covers. Book Detail opens with less work.
iPhone and iPad. Updated titles and headers use Library-inspired glass materials. Scanner and catalogue interactions have been refined.
Mac. Refreshed book cards, editor, detail pages, and Library Tools. The editor can remove a contributor from a book.
Apple Watch. A native redesign adds book covers and pause/resume controls for timed reading sessions.
Reliability and translations
More dependable daily use. Refinements address scanner notification handling, capture recovery, reading-session consistency, imports, and iCloud recovery.
Updated translations. Translations across supported languages have been updated. Dates, numbers, and currencies continue to follow your device’s regional settings.
Requirements and access
Platforms: Athos 1.2 requires iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, or watchOS 27 or later.
Apple Intelligence: supported device and language required, with Apple Intelligence enabled. Core catalogue tools remain available without it.
Internet: catalogue lookups and discovery need a connection. Captured ISBNs can wait for lookup, and your local library remains accessible offline.
iCloud: optional sync uses your private iCloud account. Connection quality and library size affect sync timing.
Athos Unlimited: libraries with up to 49 books are free. Adding the 50th book requires a monthly subscription or one-time lifetime purchase. Existing books remain readable without a purchase. Check the in-app offer for regional pricing.

Apple Watch
A dashboard for daily goals, current and next books, library totals, and recent reading.
Connection and snapshot status show when the Watch needs a fresh library update.
Book details show author, status, progress, pages read, and pages remaining.
Quick reading sessions, timed sessions with pages read, and reading-status updates from your wrist.
